Eifion Rees & Micael Quinn – Loyal Companions

Throughout George Nolan’s journey from England to the Swan River Colony, two young men stand by him through every trial: Eifion Rees and Micael Quinn. Though thrown together by fate, their friendship is forged in hardship—and grows into an unbreakable bond.

Eifion Rees

A sturdy Welsh farm boy with quick wit and a wry sense of humour, Eifion was convicted for a youthful prank gone wrong. His deep loyalty and unflappable courage earn George’s respect aboard the Black Crow and beyond. Even when faced with brutal sea storms or prison gangs, Eifion’s resourcefulness and optimism help the trio survive.

Micael Quinn

An Irish lad with bright eyes and an affable grin, Micael fell foul of the law after defending his family’s honour. On the voyage to Australia he and George discovered a shared love of horses—and a mutual determination to clear their names one day. Micael’s street‑smart solutions and easy humour provide vital support during the darkest moments.

Why They Matter

Eifion and Micael embody the themes of camaraderie and resilience at the heart of Mangadoo. As George’s steadfast allies, they remind us that even the loneliest journeys become possible when you have friends in your corner.
